We are delighted to invite all Old Stoics with an interest in wine to join us for a special evening at the City University Club, London on Thursday 1st October. This exclusive event will feature a curated tasting of classic wines, accompanied by elegant canapés. The evening will explore a range of distinguished styles, including: Champagne, White Burgundy, Claret, Sauternes and Barsac.
We are thrilled that OS Bertie Keane (Walpole 20), Sommelier at The Bucks Club, will be hosting the evening. Bertie’s passion for wine began early, having spent much of his childhood on the southwestern edge of the Loire Valley, where he was introduced to wine by his family. During his time at Stowe, he further developed this interest as a member of Corkscrew. After leaving Stowe, Bertie took a gap year before briefly studying French and International Relations at the University of Reading. He then spent a couple of years combining seasonal work in pubs with winters skiing, before embarking on a career in wine. Almost two years ago, he joined the Bucks Club in Mayfair as a Sommelier—an opportunity that sparked a lasting commitment to the wine trade. With a particular passion for French wines, especially Bordeaux and Burgundy, Bertie will guide us through the evening, sharing his expertise, insights, and enthusiasm for the regions and styles being tasted.
Tickets are £40 and include canapes and the tasting wines. Please click Book Tickets to secure your place.
