On Friday 26 June, Old Stoics and guests came together at Shimpling Farm in Suffolk for the first OS rural affairs–themed event in the East of England. Set against a backdrop of glorious countryside and warm summer sunshine, the evening offered a memorable combination of insight, hospitality and good company.

The highlight was a fascinating talk and guided walk led by OS John Pawsey (Grafton1982), who has farmed Shimpling organically for over 26 years. Guests gained a deeper understanding of sustainable farming practices and the lessons learned over more than two decades of working with the land.

John and his wife Alice provided a warm welcome, creating a relaxed and convivial atmosphere that perfectly complemented the rural setting. The event concluded with a delicious supper showcasing produce from the farm itself, including home-reared lamb and freshly baked bread made from Shimpling grain.
